Governors

The Governing Body is made up of Parent Governors, Local Education Authority (LEA) Governors appointed by the LEA, Co-Opted Governors chosen by the rest of the Governing Body, a Teacher Governor and the Headteacher. Parent Governors are elected by the parents of children attending the school, and the Teacher Governor is elected by the teachers. Governors normally serve for four years.

The governors at Wyke work closely with the Headteacher and the other staff. Their responsibilities include managing the budget, overseeing the condition of the buildings, recruiting staff and monitoring the curriculum. They work with the staff in drawing up policies for areas such as sex education, religious education, discipline and special educational needs. Governors attend training courses run by the LEA to help them to fulfil their responsibilities.

Parents are welcome to read the minutes of governor's meetings which can be found on the notice board by the Class 3 / 2K entrance to the school.

Many of the governors help in school during the week and on educational trips and visits. This gives us a first-hand knowledge of what is going on, and a real feel for the way the school works. All the Governors visit the school frequently and feel very involved in the life of the school.
